4 or 5 new signings?
The below was mentioned on the official site:

"I think West Ham has a very good team. I know all of the players and I saw most of the games that they played last season, so I am sure that, with the players we have in this moment in the squad, and bringing maybe another four or five players in, we are going to have a strong team.”

Does Pellegrini have a war chest to spend this summer; I very much doubt it but realistically, who would you sign this summer?

For me, we should be signing young players full of pace and the following areas need to be addressed:

GK
CB
FB
CM
Winger

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
Mark Oxley the Southend GK has had a superb season. Comfortably player of the year. Good age. No obvious weakness, available on a free and Millwalll want him.

Let's not get too excited, 75million gets 5 Snodgrass' or , 1 right back so we will have to spend wisely

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
Maybe better to say they 'might' pay a figure like that for Snodgrass. Ask £15m, take £10m, that sort of thing. He is after all one of the best performers in the championship this season. Nice for his value too that he doesn't turn 31 until after the Summer window :).

I was referring to Alex V

Does this also means Noble will be shown the door as well?

me? No mate. Must be another stain.

And that's from a man who believes he is good at valuing players.

You wanted us to bid 2m for Heaton, didn't you?

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
We should ask £15m for Snodgrass. I bet they'd pay it.

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
trevor - who's counting? The four would all be flair players because that would have to include two wingers and quasi striker.

So likes of Arthur, Antonio, Arnie, Lanzini, Mario etc. Don't see Obiang in there.

Or hope, if Villa win, that we can con them into giving us £8m for Snodgrass.

Id recall Oxford but by all accounts Burke hasn't played well.
Not sure Cullen will make it and Byram need the door.

What to do with Snodgrass? Lets hope he has a good Play off final.

I thought Pellegrini favoured 4141?

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
I've been crying out for a defensive midfielder as much as anyone. but I'm conflicted as I'm a great admirer of Obiang and feel he could do this job well, particualrly under Spanish speaking coaches (why should this help? It can't hurt.)

Not sure El Pell's favoured 4-4-2 will withstand a DM plus Obiang. We need cover certainly but if Pedro returns as good as he was, I'm not sure this is such a priority.

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
I’d like to see some more younger players brought in, and have said it for a few seasons.

But the first priority should be sorting out the problems with the squad, which is unbalanced enough that we ended up fighting a relegation scrap.

Arnie turning into a monster basically saved us last season, but there’s no guarantee that his amazing form wasn’t just a purple patch and won’t continue next season.

Hopefully Kouyate is first out the door

He has said that defence is his first priority.

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
I wouldn't say the defence is the biggest problem......it's the lack of protection they get

Our midfield is Fucking woeful.....offer no legs or cover for the defence

We need a flat back 4 with 2 in front that can get about the pitch

So it's a taxi for both Noble and Kouyate

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
The goal for our club shoukdnt be to target 30 or 40m players, but look for players like Lanzini...young and full of potential, and then help them reach it.

This has many upsides, including:

-hungry players
-good sell on value
-lower wage bill

Plus its been shown going big is no guarantee of success as players like Mangala have proven.

Hopefully Pellegrini has a network that can target players with promise rathdr than established big names. As a club we're not in the position to go the big name road.

Re: 4 or 5 new signings?
Biggest problem is defence...
let in 68 goals...worst in league with Stoke...

8th highest scorers with 48...

Glad we didnt get Benitez...hardly entertaining with about 1 goal a game scored
